Swami in Thailand

At the Workshop for Overseas Teachers of Bal Vikas in Puttaparthi
in August 1983, we were very fortunate to have Swami's Divine
Discourses to the teachers everyday. On one occasion, Swami
[Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba] said: "In this life, if you are a
Bal Vikas guru, that is enough. You do not need to anything else".
There were seven teachers at this Workshop from Thailand and in an
interview, Swami said: "If you teach children, you do not need to
worry about anything. I will look after you, I will look after
your business..."
The teachers including the author of this article all returned
home after the Workshop full of enthusiasm and soon started to
hold Bal Vikas classes as well as Education in Human Values
classes. The author of this article owns a factory situated in the
suburbs of Bangkok. Because this area has many burglars, a guard
was hired to look after the factory at night time. However, the
guard used to go into his little room and lock himself inside and
go to sleep at night. The factory was therefore not guarded
properly.
One night the guard was awakened by someone who entered his room
and spoke to the guard: "Perform your duty well and you will be
rewarded". The language was of course the Thai language as the
guard knew no other languages. Needless to say, the guard was
completely shocked and frightened as he did not understand how it
was possible to enter his room as he had locked the door. The same
thing happened again for four consecutive nights! The guard could
no longer remain quiet as he became very confused and afraid. The
next morning he ran to the author who is the managing director of
the company. The guard confessed that he did not do his duty and
started relating the whole story. The author asked the guard to
describe the man who woke him up in the middle of the night. He
answered that the man had a big crown of hair. The author realized
what had happened and took the guard into the office room of the
author. Inside the room, there is a picture of Swami hanging on
the wall. Once inside, the guard stared at the picture with an
expression of great surprise. He pointed to the picture and said:
"That's him. That is the man who came into my room and woke me up
in the middle of the night!"
At the EHV Conference and Workshop in Puttaparthi in December
1986, the author was asked to speak in front of Swami in the
Poornachandra Hall at Prashanti Nilayam to the gathering of
teachers from many countries. Whilst relating story, Swami looked
at the author and smiled...
