38. FLOW OF PERENNIAL GANGA!
Lord Siva is known to have dammed
the mighty _ of the 'Celestial Ganga', in order to save the earth
from the impact. Shirdi Sai (the incarnation of Siva) used to be
worshipped with 'pavitra' water of the Godavari (the regional
Ganga). Das Ganu, on a Sivarathri day, requested Baba's permission
to go and fetch water from this river to do 'abhishekam'. Baba
retorted, "What Bs the need of going so far out to fetch the Ganga
water?. Whatever amount of this water you need, you can have from
My Feet, for the River is right here in My toe". The bhakta
carried out the behest of his Deity and collected the 'padatirtha'
that flowed from Baba's toe, and sprinkled it on his own head (A
modified 'abhishekam' shall we say).
Parthi Sai, came to the bed side of
Subamma (as promised), who had lain dead for the past three days.
Bhagavan lovingly called out her name and she responded by opening
her eyes. He held His fingers over her lips - a flow of 'Pavitra
Ganga' issued forth she partook the same and her elevated soul
departed.
